The 1st Inflammation & Cancer Summer School aims to stimulate research in inflammatory pathways associated with cancer by improving scientific knowledge and developing skills among young researchers. This educational activity is organised by INFLA-CARE, a 4-year research initiative funded by the European Commission under the FP7 framework. INFLA-CARE welcomes students, clinicians and scientists to this summer school where participants have the unique opportunity to engage in scientific learning with some of the world’s experts in the field of inflammation and cancer.

This year marks the first INFLA-CARE summer school meeting, which will be held on 28-30 September 2010 at Fodele on the Greek island of Crete, famed for its rich archaeological history of the Minoan civilization and also for its outstanding natural beauty. We have put together a diverse scientific program of international speakers for the summer school, whose expertise reflects the cutting edge of research in inflammation and cancer today. Many of the speakers are members of the INFLA-CARE research consortium itself, others are invited scientists in fields related to the wider area of cancer or inflammation research.

The 1st Inflammation & Cancer Summer School will appeal to graduate students, post-docs and medical doctors who are interested in updating and broadening their scientific knowledge. We look forward to welcoming you to the summer school where we are sure you will enjoy an atmosphere of learning and scientific discussion, in addition to exploring the many cultural opportunities that Crete offers.
